The Monday metro figures follow a month-long slide reported by City News Service: the Los Angeles County average fell for the 30th time in 31 days on Sunday, dropping six-tenths of a cent to $5.977, and has decreased 46.2 cents over the last 31 days, according to AAA and Oil Price Information Service figures in that report. The run of decreases follows a 44-day streak of increases that had brought the county average within 5.4 cents of its record high, and began four days after the September 28 announcement that cheaper winter-blend gasoline could be sold immediately instead of waiting for the customary November 1 date.
