Día de los Muertos in Los Angeles on Sunday: West Adams, UCLA, Santa Monica and MacArthur Park
Los Angeles marks Día de los Muertos on Sunday, November 1, with a free West Adams block party, an afternoon festival at UCLA's Fowler Museum, a return to Santa Monica's Woodlawn Cemetery and an evening celebration at MacArthur Park.

The fourth annual West Adams Día de los Muertos Festival Block Party runs Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. on West Adams Boulevard at 5640 W. Adams Blvd., between Fairfax Avenue and Hauser Boulevard. The free, family- and pet-friendly event lists live performances, free carnival games, free workshops, more than 80 vendors, food trucks and an immersive community altar, presented with the support of Councilwoman Heather Hutt's Council District 10 office.
At UCLA, the Fowler Museum's Fowler Festival for Día de los Muertos runs from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 308 Charles E Young Drive North, with hands-on artmaking, mini ofrendas and live music by Mariachi Alta California, celebrating with artist Maria Elena Cruz. In Santa Monica, Día de los Muertos returns to Woodlawn Cemetery at 1847 14th Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. after a six-year hiatus — a free, all-ages event with live music, art and traditional altars, a grand altar by Santa Monica artist Daniela Torres-Mattus of Beautify Earth, and a Santa Monica Conservancy program marking 100 years of Woodlawn's history.
In Westlake, Music, Arts & Community Los Angeles (MAC LA) holds its first Día de los Muertos event at the MacArthur Park Bandshell, 2230 W. 6th Street, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., under the theme Ancestral Protection. A procession led by the Project for the Arts and Dreams of Indigenous Oaxacan Heritage is set to arrive at the park at 4 p.m., followed by an opening prayer and ceremony with local indigenous leaders, dance performances, a fashion show, music, resource booths and a community altar the public can join.
