Gas Prices Keep Falling in Los Angeles County, Down to $5.983 a Gallon
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell for the 29th time in 30 days on Saturday, down 1.3 cents to $5.983 and 45.6 cents lower than a month ago, AAA figures show.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped for the 29th time in 30 days on Saturday, falling 1.3 cents to $5.983, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service reported by City News Service. The average has decreased 45.6 cents during the last 30 days, including 2.3 cents on Friday, following a 44-day streak of increases that had brought the price within 5.4 cents of its record high of $6.493, set October 5, 2022.
The Los Angeles County average is 12.2 cents less than one week ago and 44.5 cents less than one month ago, but $1.275 more than one year ago. In Orange County, the average dropped for the 30th consecutive day, falling 1.4 cents to $5.864. The national average dropped for the seventh consecutive day, decreasing 2.1 cents to $4.183.
The streak of dropping prices began four days after Gov. Gavin Newsom's September 28 announcement that cheaper winter-blend gasoline would be allowed to be sold immediately instead of the customary November 1 date. In a statement released Thursday, Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California's senior public affairs specialist, said gas prices in California have dropped by more than 40 cents in the past month, while noting that worldwide oil prices have increased in the last two weeks due to continued supply volatility, so it is uncertain how long pump prices will continue to decline if that trend holds.
