State Route 91 Faces Overnight Lane, Ramp and Connector Closures November 2 to 6 From Cerritos to Gardena, Caltrans Says
Caltrans plans overnight closures along a 14.7-mile stretch of State Route 91 in Los Angeles County for a $34 million sign rehabilitation project, with both directions reduced to two lanes between Gardena and Cerritos.

Caltrans is planning overnight lane, connector and ramp closures along State Route 91 from Cerritos to Gardena in Los Angeles County, starting Monday, November 2 through Friday, November 6, for curb, gutter and sidewalk work on a sign rehabilitation project, the agency announced. Eastbound and westbound SR-91 will each be reduced to two lanes overnight between Vermont Avenue in Gardena and the Orange County line in Cerritos, and rolling overnight full closures at connectors and ramps are possible as the contractor moves between locations.
The work includes striping operations and roadway excavation on eastbound connectors to Interstate 710, bridge demolition work to upgrade bridge railings at the westbound Alameda Street/Santa Fe Avenue off-ramp in Compton, and closures of the westbound on- and off-ramps at Long Beach Boulevard in Long Beach for bridge demolition work. Detour routes will be marked, and message signs will be placed along detour routes to direct traffic.
The $34 million project will rehabilitate and upgrade roadside and overhead signs and lighting, restore highway planting, replace guardrail and make worker safety improvements along the 14.7-mile stretch, Caltrans said. It is expected to be completed in summer 2029, with Security Paving Company, Inc. as the contractor. Caltrans encouraged motorists to allow extra travel time, drive with caution in the area, and check QuickMap for current road conditions, noting the schedule is subject to change for weather or operational reasons.
